For steeped grains plus malt extract:

  • Delete the two-row and the wheat malt lines.
  • For liquid malt extract, add sugar: Liquid light malt extract, 79, 5, 76
  • For dry malt extract, add sugar: Dry light malt extract, 79, 3.5, 96
  • Set the mash efficiency variable to 55% (eff: 55) for steeping.

Deschutes Brewing Company's Black Butte Porter is a fine example of an American porter. It is their flagship beer.

The recommended yeast is Wyeast 1187 (Ringwood) or White Labs WLP005 (British ale).
